UNESCO-Japan Prize on Education for Sustainable Development
Winner, 2017
Sihlengeni Primary School, supported by SCOPE Zimbabwe, was awarded this prestigious global prize for transforming an arid learning environment into a thriving, sustainable “green oasis.” The project became a model for integrating permaculture and community engagement into education, inspiring schools across Zimbabwe and beyond.
Best AFSA Youth Agroecology Project in Africa
Winner, 2021
SCOPE Zimbabwe was recognized by the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) for its outstanding work empowering youth and schools through agroecology and permaculture. This award highlights SCOPE’s leadership in fostering sustainable food systems and environmental stewardship among young people throughout the continent.

SCOPE Zimbabwe was selected as one of only 50 finalists out of over 600 nominations from 126 countries for the UNDP-Equator Prize. Our nomination is featured in the Equator Initiative Solutions Database, connecting our nature-based solutions to a global audience and showcasing our work on the interactive Equator map.
